In order to have a telemedicine abortion, you will need to meet certain criteria. Please read about the eligibility requirements below.
Gestation
To qualify for a telemedicine abortion, you must meet the gestational requirements for the non-surgical method of abortion. A medical abortion is available to women who are no more than 11 weeks pregnant using last menstrual period (LMP) dates.
Location
The next qualification you must meet in order to have a telemedicine abortion is that you must live in one of the following states:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Massachussets
- New Jersey
- New York
- Pennsylvania
- Vermont
Even if you do not live in one of these states, you may still qualify for a telemedicine abortion.

Medication Abortion
A telemedicine abortion can only be completed with the non-surgical abortion method, which uses medication instead of a surgical procedure. If you wish to have a telemedicine abortion, you must be willing to complete the abortion by using the non-surgical method rather than a surgical procedure. Please visit our Telemedicine Abortion page to learn more about the medication abortion and how it works.
Contraindications
Medical abortions are not suitable for all women. If any of the following conditions apply, you may need a different option. Our providers will discuss your medical history and any questions you have.
- An intrauterine device (IUD) in your uterus, such as Paragard, Mirena, Skyla, Liletta, or Kyleena.
- A blood disease or medication that affects your blood’s ability to clot normally. This includes taking anti-coagulants or steroids. You also cannot take aspirin throughout the medical abortion process.
- If you have a liver, kidney or adrenal disease, please discuss that with your provider. You may need a different regimen of abortion medications.
- An allergy to the abortion drugs.
Equipment
You must have access to a device with video and audio capabilities (phone, tablet, or computer) which can be connected to the Internet.
